[Galaxy's Edge] Le land Star Wars

Je viens de voir (sur un autre site, mais j'imagine que la nouvelle sera reprise ici bientôt) que Bob Iger a confirmé que Star Wars aurait une présence accrue dans les parcs Disney dans les années qui viennent. Des détails seront donnés l'année prochaine, mais il semblerait que l'on se dirige vers un Land Star Wars.

Quelles seraient les attractions que vous voudriez voir dans ce Land ?

La rumeur parle d'une attraction sur la course de speeder de ROTJ et d'un restaurant Cantina.
Moi j'imaginerais bien un rollercoaster sur le thème du faucon dans la ceinture d'astéroïdes, ou une attraction Guerre des clones sur laquelle il faut se battre contre les séparatistes (style l'attraction Buzz l'éclair), ou encore un village ewok et une attraction "deviens un jedi" interactive où on s'entrainerait au sabre laser avant de combattre Darth Maul ou Vador.

Alors c'était confirmé depuis longtemps, et le point sur les rumeurs c'était encore avant.
La nouvelle étant donc l'annonce à venir l'année prochaine, merci pour l'avoir transmis ici

J'avais lu des rumeurs sur un forum Disney US concernant un Falcon taille réelle qui serait visitable, à l'instar du Nautilus.

J'aime bien le style, on dirait Naboo mélangée à Kashyyyk, ça fait assez exotique et inédit, pas juste un cliché de la Cantina de ANH ou autres décors copiés des films.

C'est plus original que tout ce qu'on a vu de TFA.

Je suppose qu'il faut pas trop rêver pour voir ça à Paris.

Alors moi au contraire j'avais lu dans un article qu'il y aurait des choses prévues pour Disneyland Paris. Peut être que vous êtes déjà au courant mais en ce moment Disneyland Paris est en perte d'affluence et a des dettes colossales. Pour contrer ces problème, Disney a injecté 1 milliard d'euros (rien que ça) pour rénover le parc. Ainsi, par exemple, le Space Mountain a connu une première vague de travaux récemment, ou encore l'attraction It's a small world, qui en avait vraiment besoin (je l'ai faite il y a moins d'un mois).

L'injection de ce milliard signifie aussi faire peau neuve.
Il y aurait une mise à jour du Star Tours vers "Star Tours, The Aventures Continues" comme aux USA. La version actuelle fermerait ses portes en 2016. Mais ce n'est pas tout puisque les activités environnantes fermeraient aussi leur portes : Captain EO, Pizza Planet...
Et un "Star Wars Land" avec quelques nouvelles attractions ouvriraient à la place. Voici un extrait de l'article en question :

La file d’attente extérieure de l’actuel Star Tours deviendra un jardin paysager. Toute l’architecture des bâtiments et de la gare sera retravaillée pour coller à l’ambiance Star Wars. Captain EO quand à lui deviendra un espace pour une nouvelle petite attraction 100% inédite pour la France sur le thème de Star Wars. Pizza Planet et ses alentours devraient devenir une attraction sur le Faucon Millenium. Un restaurant inspiré de la Cantina est aussi prévu. L'information est sortie il y a déjà deux semaines mais il me semble qu'elle n'ait pas encore été abordée sur SWU.

Le site américain WDWNT a découvert le 18 avril dernier une enquête réalisée par le site Swagbucks pour le compte de The Walt Disney Company, cette enquête avait pour but de mesurer l'intérêt auprès du public d'une expérience des plus immersive dans un hôtel resort directement inspiré de l'univers Star Wars.

Ce potentiel nouvel hôtel serait envisagé pour Walt Disney World Resort (où un Star Wars land est en cours de construction dans le parc à thème Disney's Hollywood Studios) et proposerait des séjours uniques et interactifs en formule "all-inclusive" de trois jours et deux nuits.

D'après WDWNT, l'expérience estimée à 900-1.000 dollars US par personne comprendrait :

◾The opportunity to experience a 2-day story set in the Star Wars universe

◾Be surrounded in a continuous, story-driven entertainment experience as it unfolds over the course of the 2-night stay

◾Have personal interactions with Star Wars characters, live performers throughout the starship (experience the story or simply observe the action according to personal preference)

Des nouvelles en provenance de la convention D23 à Anaheim où le panel consacré à la division Parks and Resorts s'est achevé :

Le nom officiel des Star Wars lands en cours de construction à Disneyland Park à Anaheim et à Disney's Hollywood Studios Park à Orlando a été révélé : Star Wars : Galaxy's Edge !

Les deux lands seront très similaires et promettent une interactivité encore jamais rencontrée dans un parc à thème.

Des détails seront progressivement dévoilés d'ici au printemps 2019.

Bob Chapek, président de Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a également confirmé la réalisation du projet d'hôtel thématique Star Wars qui permettra de vivre une expérience des plus immersive à Walt Disney World Resort en Floride (voir mon message page précédente).

Là encore, le concept de séjour est révolutionnaire, intégrant totalement le visiteur dans l'Univers Star Wars et lui donnant l'occasion de faire partie de l'Histoire et de la vivre à chaque instant de son séjour comme dans un gigantesque jeu de rôle ! (le concept serait poussé jusqu'à se vêtir en conformité avec son personnage!).

En tout cas, tout comme il ont pus le faire pour le parc Harry Potter, ou plus récemment Avatar, les parcs a theme de nos jours sont de plus en plus poussés, immersifs, et je sais pas pour la qualité des attractions, mais visuellemnet c'est tout simplement génialissime

De légères modifications peuvent avoir eu lieu depuis le dépôt des documents au service municipal délivrant les permis de bâtir et la réalisation finale de ces plans, mais cela donne une bonne idée de ce qui nous attend à Batuu.

We saw the blueprints for Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and this is what they show

The visitors who enter Disneyland’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge after it opens in 2019 will step into the most intricate and immersive environment the park has ever created, with lush trees, exotic buildings, a land speeder garage, a droid shop and even a version of the Mos Eisley cantina, according to building plans Disney has filed with the city of Anaheim.

The “Star Wars”-themed land, the largest single themed land ever built at the Anaheim park, will take up a 14-acre swath of land in the northern part of Frontierland. The blueprints detailing what will be in the land – and where – are arguably the most important plans for fans of the franchise since those for the Death Star.

Here’s what they reveal :

•Guests coming in from Fantasyland will first see a First Order performance stage and other props. Those entering from the west side see a verdant forest, a Jedi star ship and other props from the Resistance movement.

•As park-goers work their way toward the middle of the area, they could walk inside a cantina – similar to the Mos Eisley from the films – and order a soft drink from a bartender manning a U-shaped bar and sit down in booths, and table tops while listening to an audio-animatronic DJ or band on a stage.

•And in the large ride that will anchor Galaxy’s Edge, new villain Kylo Ren could make an appearance.

Construction for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is well underway. A model of the land was unveiled at Disney’s biennial fan convention, the D23 Expo, in July, but the blueprints shed more light on the project’s size and scope. Disney is also building Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios in Florida’s Walt Disney World. It’s unclear how similar the two lands will be.

Disney officials on Friday, Nov. 17, revealed that the concept of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is to place guests at a trading post on the planet Batuu.

“Once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes, but its prominence was bypassed by the rise of hyperspace travel,” said Scott Trowbridge, portfolio creative executive at Walt Disney Imagineering on Disneys official parks blog. “Now home to those who prefer to stay out of the mainstream, it has become a thriving port for smugglers, rogue traders and adventurers traveling between the frontier and uncharted space.

“It’s also a convenient safe haven for those intent on avoiding the expanding reach of the First Order,” he added.

Galaxy’s Edge will feature two main rides – one that allows visitors to pilot the Millennium Falcon and another unnamed that pits them in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

The blueprints provide more details, from the types of trees that will be planted in the Resistance Forest, the stones used for the building structures, the design of the sewer caps, to the restrooms and areas dedicated for stroller parking.

City officials said like any development, the blueprints are not set in stone. Disney could modify the submitted plans anytime.

A Disneyland spokesman did not provide any additional details on plans for the land.

With the eighth installment of the Star Wars space opera franchise set to be released in mid-December, here are eight things that can be gleaned from the public plans filed by Disney.

1. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land layout

Disney officials and the model have previously revealed this but the blueprints lay out exactly how Star Wars land area will be configured. Galaxy’s Edge is split into two sides with a hub or conflict zone in the middle. The Resistance or Rebels are on the west side of the land lined with hundreds of lush trees and forest. The First Order appears to have a performance stage and other props on the east side. The Millennium Falcon and the second, unnamed ride occupy much of the north side of the land, while the middle serves as the trading port’s hub with a merchant area and marketplace.

2. The First Order ride

The building bears the code name “Alcatraz” in documents. It is a massive structure that nearly takes up nearly a quarter of Galaxy’s Edge. The plans reveal that inside, visitors will hop aboard an eight-person ride vehicle piloted by an astromech droid. Visitors will weave through projection scenes depicting a major space battle, elaborate props such as AT ATs, gunners, and a possible encounter with Kylo Ren (nicknamed Kylo-Vator in plans) before leaving in an escape pod. There are 18 scenes in total.

3. Flying the Falcon

Dubbed “Big Bird” in plans, the Millennium Falcon is 100-feet across. Inside, the ride has a pre-show room before guests go into one of what appear to be four turntable rooms. Pictures previously released by Disney show six passengers boarding a ship that allows them to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy. Trowbridge, the Disney Imagineer, has previously said If a visitor does a good job flying the ship, that person will receive some kind of galactic credit. If a guest leaves the ship banged up, a bounty might be placed on the visitor’s head.

4. Cantina

This is your chance to stare down some aliens, negotiate a bounty or perhaps drink blue milk. Located directly across from the Millennium Falcon ride, the plan for the Cantina is nearly similar to the Mos Eisley in the movies. According to plans, the cantina will feature a U-shaped bar, booths, and tables. A stage will feature audio-animatronic performs, perhaps the Rex droid as the DJ as Disney officials previously announced.

5. Merchants’ Row

One of the features of the trading post is merchants’ row. One store that stands out was labeled “Saber.” Will there be a shop selling specifically Light Sabers? Plans for the building show six-story-high rocky spires fronting a one-story retail building with interior space about half the size of a football field. All the store fixtures will be themed to look like aged and distressed metal.

6. Droids

Disney executives have already hinted that droids will populate the land. They’ve been testing a J4KE or Jake Droid the past year at Disneyland. According to the plans, droids dominate the area. Droid charging stations will be located throughout the land and there also will be a droid mechanic shop.

7. Landspeeder garage

Remember Luke Skywalker floating around in a land speeder? There’s an area in Star Wars land, outside of a restaurant, that’s marked “land speeder garage,” with props of various parked space crafts.

8. The Restaurant

Documents reveal that there appears to be one large sit-down and table service restaurant. The restaurant – yet to be named or themed – appears in the middle of the land. Based on plans, it appears to be larger than the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

Bob Chapek, président de Disney Parks, a fait le point sur plusieurs projets en développement à travers le globe lors du panel consacré à la division Disney Parks and Resorts qui s'est déroulé lundi matin au Maihama Amphitheatre de Tokyo Disney Resort qui hébèrge depuis samedi la troisième édition de la Convention D23 Expo Japan.

Just moments ago, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Bob Chapek shared an update on the progress of the highly anticipated land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and shared a sneak peek at the unique Toydarian merchandise guests will find exclusively in the land.

At Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, guests will visit the planet of Batuu, a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes. Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two attractions that take detail and immersion to the next level: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

Guests will also be able to explore a street market run by a Toydarian, a character first introduced in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” Among his wares will be handcrafted toys made by local artisans, like those seen above.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set to open at both the Disneyland and the Walt Disney World Resorts in 2019.

Walt Disney Imagineering, NVIDIA Develop New Tech to Enable Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Millennium Falcon Attraction for Disney Parks

NVIDIA Quadro and Epic Games Unreal Engine multi-GPU customizations benefit all Unreal users.

When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens next year at Disneyland Resort and the Walt Disney World Resort, park guests will visit the planet of Batuu, a remote outpost that was once a busy crossroads along the old sub-lightspeed trade routes. But you don’t have to wait another year to get a glimpse of it.

An in-progress animated sequence from the Millennium Falcon attraction was unveiled today. Produced by ILMxLAB and running in real time, it gives fans the first ever glimpse of the incredible detail and immersion the attraction will offer.

Walt Disney Imagineering teamed with NVIDIA and Epic Games to develop new technology to drive its attraction. When it launches, riders will enter a cockpit powered with a single BOXX chassis packed with eight high-end NVIDIA Quadro P6000 GPUs, connected via Quadro SLI.

Quadro Sync synchronizes five projectors for the creation of dazzling ultra-high resolution, perfectly timed displays to fully immerse the riders in the word of planet Batuu.

Working with NVIDIA and Epic Games, the Imagineering team created a custom multi-GPU implementation for Unreal Engine. This new code was returned to the Epic Games team and will help influence how multi-GPUs function for their engine.

“We worked with NVIDIA engineers to use Quadro-specific features like Mosaic and cross-GPU reads to develop a renderer that had performance characteristics we needed,” says Bei Yang, technology studio executive at Disney Imagineering. “Using the eight connected GPUs allowed us to achieve performance unlike anything before.”

Yang and Principal Software Developer Eric Smolikowski dove into more details during their GTC talk, “Walt Disney Imagineering Technology Preview: Real-time Rendering of a Galaxy Far, Far Away,” and discussed how Disney Imagineering took advantage of the latest NVIDIA technology and the technical modifications they made for the Unreal Engine, which allows eight GPUs to render at unprecedented quality and speed.

C'est bien un vol dans le faucon non? et le respect des proportions? le cockpit est latéral sur le vaisseau, c'est très bizarre de ne pas le voir se crasher vu l'étroitesse de certains passages...
De même que le vaisseau se mange un container, tombe, marche arrière, marche avant, vraiment très bizarre...
